#Rohit #Sharma finally comes good with #Suresh #Raina and the bowlers defend 176 against #Bangladesh with ease.
India continues their winning form in the Nidahas Trophy as they are the first team to go through the finals of this tri series.
Both the teams went with few changes in this playing XI, India continued to drop Rishbah Pant and this time they axe Jaydev Unadkat from their squad.
Unadkat was replaced with young Mohd Siraj.
Bangladesh dropped Taskin Ahmed and Imrul Kyes. These two were replaced by Abu Hider Rony and Nazmul Islam.
This time Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Shikhar Dhawan and Skipper Rohit Sharma opened the innings for India and Abu Hider Rony opened the bowling for Bangladesh.
Rohit Sharma started off carefully in the first over, as India scored just 2 from it.
Nazmul Islam bowled the second over of the innings, he kept Rohit Sharma silent as he purchased some turn from this Colombo pitch.
But Dhawan was in-form of his life, he didn’t waste any time to take on Islam. Dhawan hit his first boundary of Islam and opened his account.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started off well for India in this match.
The openers added 70 runs for the first wicket; on the other hand, Bangladesh bowlers tried everything to dismiss Rohit and Dhawan.
Bangladesh gets their first breakthrough inform of Dhawan, he was clean bowled by Rubel Hossain.
Dhawan tried to make some room by digging at the out swinging Yorker delivery bowled by Rubel, Dhawan was out for 35 runs.
Suresh Raina was the number 3 batsmen for India in this match. He was in decent form as well.
Raina and Rohit continued from where Dhawan and Rohit left.
Rohit was coming in his hitting zone and Raina continued his hitting form.
These two build a solid partnership that took the game away from Bangladesh; in this process, Rohit also completes his 13th fifty in T20 International cricket.
This was a slow inning from Hit Man; he scored these 50 runs in 42 balls.
But Suresh Raina made it up from the other end, his blazing shots allowed India to get a good total.
Rohit and Raina shared a good partnership of 102 runs for the third wicket.
As the poor Bangladesh bowlers struggled to get the breakthrough.
Rohit also makes another record in this match; he has hit 75 sixes in T20 International cricket that is the most by any Indian in this format.
Bangladesh finally gets a breakthrough in the last over of the innings. Rubel Hossain takes the big fish, but it’s too late for Bangladesh.
Suresh Raina was out after playing a very good hand, Raina tried to play a flick on the good length delivery but he gets only the distant contact, there was no elevation in that shot. Soumya Sarkar caught Raina off Rubel Hossain. Raina scored useful 47 runs.
Bangladesh had another big wicket in the last over, Skipper Rohit Sharma was run out of the last ball.
Dinesh Karthik was unbeaten on 2 as India end their innings on 176 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Bangladesh bowlers struggled in this match, they didn’t do well as they did it against Sri Lanka. They failed to break the two huge partnerships.
Rubel Hossain was the only one who picked up wickets for Bangladesh. He picked up 2 wickets to his name.
Everyone fancied Bangladesh to chase down this target of 177, as they have come from a great win against Sri Lanka a few days ago.
But that didn’t happen for the Bangla Tigers.
Bangladesh didn’t start off well as they did in their last game.
Man in-form Liton Das didn’t repeat his heroics. He was out cheaply.
Washington Sundar picks up Liton Das for just 7 runs on the last ball of the 1st over. Sundar beats Das with his fight as he charges down and misses the ball and Dinesh Karthik does the rest behind the stumps.
It was a good breakthrough for India, but it was not over yet for Bangladesh.
Sundar strikes again in his next over, the third over of the Bangladesh innings.
Washington Sundar clean bowled Soumya Sarkar for just 1 run, Sarkar tried to play the slog sweep and misses the ball completely. Sundar picks up his 2nd wicket in his 2nd over.
The man of the moment comes to rescue Bangladesh; Lord Mushi was in the crease with Tamim Iqbal.
Iqbal was fighting a lone battle out there, he and Bangladesh needed some experienced player like Rahim to stay there.
But Tamim Iqbal was undone by Washington Sundar again; Sundar picks up the first three wickets of the Bangladeshi batsmen.
Tamim tried to be too cute, he went to play the lap sweep but miss the ball as it clips the top of the bails and dislodges the stumps. Iqbal was bowled by Sundar for 26 runs.
Bangladesh was in big trouble, they lost 3 big wickets for 41 runs on the board.
Skipper Mahmudullah joins Rahim, Bangladesh were need of a big partnership.
But there was none in their innings, Bangladesh skipper batted around a bit as the run rate was getting higher Mahmudullah went after Chahal but couldn’t do much.
Mahmudullah pulls the ball to mid wicket, KL Rahul was there to catch it, Chahal picks up the wicket. Mahmudullah goes for just 11 runs.
Bangladesh went in deeper trouble, but Rahim was still there. He was using his good form.
Shabbier Rahaman was also in decent touch, Rahim and Rahaman rebuild the Bangladesh innings with a gusty partnership.
This partnership between these two allowed Bangladesh to stay in the hunt.
The 65 run partnership between Rahim and Rahaman was good till it lasted but Bangladesh needed much more than in quick time.
Shardul Thakur broke this partnership and allowed India to make a comeback; Shabbir Raham tried to hit the slower delivery across the line and gets clean bowled for 27 runs.
Mehidy Hasan also falls early to Mohd Siraj, Hasan tried to hit a length ball with a tonk, it gets only high but no distance. Raina catches it with ease. Hasan was out for 7 runs.
Mushifiqur Rahim was there unbeaten on 58 runs but Bangladesh losses the game.
Bangladesh score just 159 for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.
India won the match by 17 runs.
The bowlers did a wonderful job by restricting the Bangla Tigers. Washington Sundar picks up 3 wickets. He becomes the youngest player to do so.
Mohd Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Yuzvendra Chahal pick up 1 wicket each to their name.
Rohit Sharma was awarded the man of the match for his comeback innings of 89 runs.
