Virat Kohli will look to maintain the winning momentum and South Africa will look bounce back in the 2nd #ODI tomorrow.
The Proteas were undone by the Indian bowlers at Durban few days ago. The South African batsmen lacked positive intent in the 1st ODI.
Only skipper Faf Du Plessis was there to hold the innings together but others failed to support Skipper Faf.
It is important for South Africa that their main batters fire with big a hundred in the next game.
The 2nd ODI is to be played tomorrow at Supersport Park in Centurion.
South Africa will want to level the series tomorrow. Despite missing AB De Villers and skipper Faf Du Plessis, the hosts would want to raise their bar and make a good comeback.
Hashim Amla will have to lead the batting department in absence of ABD and Faf Du Plessis.
Amla has been terrific as an opener for South Africa, but now he is the man to be watched in crisis.
With Amla, South Africa will also want ODO specialist David Miller and Jean Paul Duminy to play a crucial knock in the middle order.
This will be the golden chance for both of them to prove their worth. They have been the match winners for South Africa but now this is the perfect time for them to step up and raise their standards.
South Africa will want to these two to do well tomorrow.
They are the middle order pillars for the Proteas, if Miller and Duminy stay quiet, than South Africa will struggle to score a big total, just like the 1st ODI.
Form of Quinton De Cock is also a worry for South Africa. Hashim Amla needs his partner to fire tomorrow.
De Cock has been silent with the bat for a long time now. In the test series he didn’t play well. South Africa needs De Cock at the opening position.
Adien Markram was sent as replacement to AB De Villers in the last match, but he didn’t use but he couldn’t make the opportunity count.
Now when South Africa is in need, Markram should fire for his team. If he does so, than The Proteas have a stronger chance of imposing a donating total on the board.
The bowlers also went down in front of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.
They did well to send Rohit Sharma back early but the others didn’t respond Morne Morkel well as they did in the test series.
It was Andile Phehlukwayo who provide the break through by sending Rahane and Kohli back, unfortunately it was too late for South Africa to win the match from there.
South Africa had a lone spinner in the 1st match, but he too was ineffective. Imran Tahir is a man with the golden arm but failed to provide with the important breakthrough.
The bowlers will need to do more what they have done in the 1st ODI. South Africa’s batting and bowling went under a scanner on Thursday.
Now they will aim to make a comeback in a great fashion.
India on the other hand will be pleased with the proceedings of the 1st ODI, but still Rohit Sharma hasn’t been as best as he is in Indian conditions.
Shikhar Dhawan played well but was run out due to misunderstanding with Skipper Virat Kohli.
The middle order didn’t bat much because of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, but they will be tested from the 2nd ODI.
India should stick with Ajinkya Rahane; he is the most dependable batsman for India in any format, if Rahane would played all 3 test matches than surely India would save the 3 match test series.
But the concern of Hardik Pandya is the same still, after scoring 93 runs in the 1st test at Cape Town, he has been silent with the ball and with the ball.
Even though Pandya didn’t get much of a chance in the last game, but the question is that can he be the all rounder that India is searching for?
Hardik Pandya should deliver with ball and if need be with the bat also, otherwise this series may see end of Pandya’s short career.
Indian bowlers are the ones who are the game turners for India.
Bumrah and Bhuvi have been excellent as a fast bowling pair and Chahal and Kuldeep to have impressed everyone in the first ODI.
Virat and Co will want these four to continue doing the great job.
India has broken South Africa’s 17 ODI winning streak at home and now Kohli will aim to win their first ever series in South Africa.
