Well performed Team India, Indian team showed why they are unbeatable at home. Their win over the Aussies by 26 runs due to D/L method showed that this Indian team can fight back from any situation.
Australia had the game in their control when they were picking up the wickets at regular intervals. The Aussies bowlers were on the top of the Indian batsmen because of their bowlers India was reduced to 87 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
The game went to India when Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni rescued India from this pathetic position.
At 87 for 5 Hardik Pandya’s aggressiveness and MS Dhoni’s calmness steadied the ship for India. Their 119 runs partnership brought India back in the game and Australia misery started to began from this point.
This partnership was the turning point of the match for the home side. Hardik Pandya brutal batting display and MSD’s ice cool batting allowed India to post a score above 270.
Even 200 runs was not looking possible at one point, especially when Kedar Jhadav was dismissed by Marcus Stoinis for 40 runs. But Hardik Pandya came all guns blazing with former captain cool MS Dhoni. He and MSD ensured that India could post a good total on the board.
Earlier, Indian opener failed to add runs. Ajinkya Rahane who replaced Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t score as he needed to; he was out for just 5 runs.
Later Skipper Kohli registered his 2nd duck of this season. Nathan Coulter Nile was the bowler to dismiss Kohli on 0 both the occasions.
Manish Pandey too didn’t trouble the scorers, he was out next ball.
Rohit Sharma tried but luck didn’t support him this time around, otherwise his 3rd double century was on the way.
Kedar Jadhav too gave his wicket away after a good start. He was dismissed on 40 by Marcus Stoinis.
Aussies were on the mark with their bowling performance but amazing Pandya and super cool MS Dhoni stole the show for the hosts.
Dhoni’s 79 and Hardik Pandya’s 83 gave India a below par total. India managed to score 281 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
On the way of his 79 run knocks Dhoni completed his 100th fifty in international cricket. He became only the 4th Indian to register 100 half centuries in international cricket history.
Apart from Dhoni and Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar too scored a vital 32. His score of 32 not out was vital in context of the game.
By doing so the number 6, 7 and 8 added 194 runs, which is the second most by India in a One Day International innings.
The Aussies bowled well; apart from that huge partnership their bowlers were taking regular wickets. Nathan Coulter Nile took 3 wickets, James Faulkner took 2 and Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa took 1 wicket each.
After the Indian innings, the rain interrupted for long hours, it was frustrating to see no play because of rain.
Finally, after some hours play started and the Australians got a revised target of 164 in 21 overs.
The chase of 165 didn’t go of well for the visitors. Only 3 batsmen could score in double digits and rest were brain faded because of the spinners who were troubling the Aussie batsmen.
Debutant Hilton Cartwright was brought in place of Aaron Finch, but he didn’t impress. He was out for just 1 in his 1st match.
Skipper Steve Smith too couldn’t contribute as Hardik Pandya dismissed him for just 1 run.
Hardik Pandya had an awesome day at the office; he picked up Travis Head too for just 5 runs.
Warner and Maxwell tried their best but the Indian spinners were too hot to handle.
Warner was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 35 and Glenn Maxwell was dismissed on 39 by Yuzvendra Chahal.
After Pandya all round performance it was the spin department that took control of the proceedings for India.
Both the spinners, Chahal and Kuldeep were picking wickets at regular intervals. After Glen Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis departed for just 2 runs.
Wicket keeper batsman Matthew Wade needed to stay with Faulkner but he was undone by Chahal for 9 runs.
James Faulkner was alone battling, no one gave him a good support, as Pat Cumins and Nathan Coulter Nile were also out for just 9 and 2 runs respectively.
In end James Faulkner was not out on 32 and Adam Zampa was unbeaten on 5.
Australia could manage only 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their revised 21 overs. India won the match by 26 runs due to the Duckworth Lewis method.
The Indian bowlers were all over the kangaroos, Chahal picked up 3 wickets, Kuldeep and Pandya picked up 2 wickets and Bhuvi got 1 wicket to his name.
This win was Kohli’s 50th international win as a captain.
Man of the Match was awarded to Hardik Pandya for his all rounder performance. He scored crucial 83 with the bat and picked up 2 important wickets with ball.
