Kolkata Knight Riders still in the Contention of the Play off Berth.

#Kuldeepyadav took #KKR to a good win over #RR at #EdenGardens.

In the fag-end of the tournament it has been really challenging for teams to seal the playoff berth but the Kolkata Knight Riders team is still in it because of their good win against the double R’s – Rajasthan Royals.

It was a good comeback from KKR which allowed them to chase a modest total in the end.

Kuldeep Yadav was the one who damaged Rajasthan innings, he took the wickets at regular intervals and halted the progress of Rajasthan in a royal way.

It was a good start for RR; they went with another opening combination.  This time Rahul Tripathi opened the innings with in-form Jos Buttler.

And this worked for RR, Tripathi and Buttler went bang bang against the KKR bowlers.

They scored 10 boundaries on the trot in 4.5 overs, for the first time the RR openers looked in charge against a decent bowling side.

Buttler and Tripathi added 63 runs in just 4.5 overs, the KKR bowlers were not as good as they were normally.

But a wicket changed everything for RR, till the first wicket fell the RR batsmen were on song.

Andre Russell was the one who provided the big wicket of Rahul Tripathi and that halted the progress of the Royals.

Tripathi was out in the 4th over, he was beaten for pace on a short delivery which Tripathi edged that and it went straight to Skipper DK behind the stumps. Tri[athi was out for 27 runs.

Then the KKR bowlers made a good comeback into the contest, they picked up key wickets at regular intervals. This didn’t allow the RR batsmen to score as they wanted to.

Ajinkya Rahane the skipper of RR team was also out in quickly, he attempted the reverse sweep but missed it all together. Rahane was clean bowled by Kuldeep for just 11 runs.

Then came Sanju Samson, these two batsmen (Butter and Samson) have batted well together in the past.

RR needed them to stick big, but the China-man struck again in his next over. he got the big fish in his basket.

The wicket of Jos Buttler which was needed the most. Normally Buttler has played the reverse sweep well but this time he couldn’t middle the ball, it went straight Searless at the third man region. Buttler had scored 5 consecutive fifties in IPL till now, unfortunately, he didn’t get the sixth one. He was out for 39 runs.

The wickets continued to tumble for the Rajasthan, Sanju Samson also didn’t last long, he fell quickly after Buttler.

And Ben Stokes didn’t do the damage with the bat, his poor run in this season of the IPL continued. Kuldeep Yadav brilliantly caught Stokes off his own bowling. Stokes was also out cheaply for 11 runs.

The RR innings reached 142 because of Jaydev Unadkat. He struck some crucial blows that allowed RR to get that modest total.

Jaydev Unadkat scored 26 runs off just 18 balls which gave Rajasthan something to bowl at.

RR reached 142 runs in 19 overs, they were bowled out for this score. They couldn’t bat for their full quota of 20 overs.

The KKR bowlers were on the mark, they made a brilliant comeback to bowl out RR for such a low score.

Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for KKR; he picked up 4 wickets to his name.

With him, Andree Russell, Prasidh Krishna picked up 2 wickets each and Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi took 1 wicket each to their name.

The run chase was of this modest total was a great one, Sunil Narine took 20 runs of Krishnappa Gowtham in the first over and gave a momentum for KKR to be in the chase.

But Narine couldn’t carry on his blazing innings. He was picked up by Ben Stokes for 21 runs which he scored of just 7 balls.

Stokes did well to give RR a much-needed breakthrough.

But Chris Lynn was the one who held the innings together for KKR.

Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana went early, they played little cameos but they couldn’t bat through the innings.

Lynn played well and guided the KKR innings with his gusty 42 runs. He fell to Stokes.

Ben Stokes bowled well and kept RR in the hunt, he took the wicket of Lynn for 42 runs.

But KKR had skipper Dinesh Karthik and Andree Russell they both finished off the game in style.

DK scored unbeaten 41 runs and Andree Russell was not out on 11 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders won by 6 wickets and 2 overs to spare.

Ben Stokes bowled well, he was the pick of the bowlers for RR. He picked up 3 wickets and with him, Ish Sodhi picked up 1 wicket to his name.

Kuldeep Yadav was the named the man of the match for his excellent bowling figures.
