#Bangladesh creates a history in the 2nd match of the #Nidashas #Trophy.

Mushifiqur Rahim plays an important role for Bangladesh in this huge win against Sri Lanka yesterday.

Offen criticized for his finishing skills, Mushifiqur Rahim came good in the 2nd match of the Nidahas Trophy.

Even though Bangladesh conceded more than 200 runs with the bowl, the batsmen step up and delivered in this crunch game.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka went with some changes in their playing XI from their last game against India, which Bangladesh lost and Sri Lanka won.

The openers Danushka Gunathalika and Kusal Mendis started off well for the hosts; they added 56 runs for the first wicket.

Gunathalika and Kusal Mendis were looking good and on the other hand Bangladesh needed a quick through.

This partnership lasted for 4.3 overs, it was all going Sri Lanka’s way but Mustifizur Rahaman delivers his special off cutter that went between the bat and pad of Gunthalika. Rahaman clean bowled Danushka Gunthalika for 26 runs.

After this opening stand ended, man in-form Kusal Perera came in to join Kusal Mendis.

Both the Kusals started to rebuild the innings after the loss of Gunathalika.

Kusal Perera continued his blazing form, he continued from where he left in 1st match of the Nidahas Trophy.

And Kusal Mendis played well and came back in form. Due to these two Kusals Sri Lanka was in a strong position.

Bangladesh bowlers struggled to break this stand, Kusal Mendis shared another partnership after adding 56 runs for the opening wicket Kusal Mendis shared a match turning partnership with Mural Perera.

They added 85 runs for the 2nd wicket, but as soon Kusal Mendis reached his milestone of 50 runs. Kusal Mendis was out to skipper Mahmudullah.

A flighted delivery that was bowled around the off stump, Kusal Mendis went for a slog sweep but he couldn’t get the elevation and Shabbir Rahaman completes a good catch. Kusal Mendis was out for 57 runs.

After this important wicket, Bangladesh made a strong comeback in this match.

Dasun Shanaka was out for 0 after two balls. Skipper Mahmudullah strikes again for Bangladesh with two wickets in that over.

Shanaka was also caught by Shabbir Rahaman.

The middle order couldn’t capitalise on the start given by the Sri Lankan top 3 batters.

This time it was skipper Dinesh Chandimal who scored only 2 runs,  Shabbir Rahaman takes his 3rd catch in a row,

Taskin bowls full delivery to Dinesh Chandimal and Chandimal flicks it with a leading edge, it was another catch for Shabbir.

Sri Lanka had lost their way, it was mainly because of bad batting done by the hosts.

Bangladesh was on a roll, they had a dream comeback with Kusal Perera was just seeing his teammates fall at the other end.

Sri Lanka needed someone to support Kusal Perera and luckily Upul Tharanga at the crease.

Upul Tharanga and Kusal Perera start the rebuilding process with one and twos.

They share a much important partnership, this 55 runs stand allow the Sri Lankans to stay in the hunt.

But the innings didn’t end well for the Lankans, Kusal Perera and Thisara Perera were dismissed in the last over.

But they took the Sri Lankan score above the 200 run mark.

Kusal scored vital 74 runs and Thisara was out on 0. Both the Pereras were dismissed by Mustifizur Rahaman.

With the help of the last 50 run stand by Tharanga and Kusal Perera, Sri Lanka managed to score 214 runs.

Upul Tharanga was not out on 32 runs and at the end of the 20 overs the Lankanks scored 214 for the loss of 6 wickets.

But still they were 20 to 30 runs short; they were definitely aiming for a score around 250 runs at least, especially when Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera were batting together.

Bangladesh made a brilliant comeback in this match, they broke the important partnership between the two Kusals and picked up wickets at regular intervals.

Mustifizur Rahaman picked up 3 wickets, Skipper Mahmuddullah picked up 2 wickets and Taskin Ahmed picked up 1 wicket to his name.

The target of 215 runs was a big one for Bangladesh, especially the batting form that was in.

Bangladesh experimented with their batting order, Liton Das was sent as an opener with Tamim Iqbal.

They both started off well, Liton Das was in good form. He used that in this run chase.

Das and Iqbal added 74 runs for the opening wicket.

Sri Lanka missed Suranga Lakmal at the start. Nuwan Pradeep, Akila Danajaya and Chameera weren’t that effective in front of these two openers.

Sri Lanka was in search of a breakthrough, that came in the last ball of the 5th over.

Liton Das got carried away and unfortunately he falls to the straighter delivery by Nuwan Pradeep. Das was out Lbw for 43 runs.

Soumya Sarkar was the number 3 batsmen for Bangladesh.

Sarkar and Iqbal batted well for some time, but this stand didn’t go a long way.

Tamim Iqbal was caught and bowled by Thisara Perera for well made 47 runs. Iqbal. Thisara bowls a seam up delivery to Tamim, but he manages it hit that back to the bowler.

Mushifiqur Rahim joins Soumya Sarkar at the crease.

They add 51 runs for the third wicket; Sarkar was out for 24 runs. He was also caught and bowled by Nuwan Pradeep. Sarkar had no control on the short, he hit the off cutter straight to Nuwan Pradeep.

Mushifqur Rahim was still there to keep Bangladesh in the hunt.

Skipper Mahmudullah came in to support Rahim.

Rahim and Mahudullah took Bangladesh closer to the Sri Lankan total.

But Mahmudullah couldn’t finish off the game, he was dismissed before that.

This match was in the exciting mode and the dismissal of Mahmudullah made this match more thrilling.

He was dismissed by the slower ball by Chameera. He scored only 20 runs.

It was an innings from Mushfiqur Rahim that brought Bangladesh to a famous win over Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh chases the 4th highest total in T20 Internationals.

Bangladesh wins this match by 5 wickets and 2 balls to spare.

Mushfiqur Rahim took his team to a historic win. He was unbeaten on 72 runs, he was awarded the man of the match for this amazing innings.

Sri Lanka wasn’t good as Bangladesh, they couldn’t take wickets regularly.

Chameera, Thisara Perera took 1 wicket each and Nuwan Pradeep took 2 wickets to his name.

The Next Match is between India and Sri Lanka on the Monday 12th March 2017.
