After losing the test series against England, it was the must win game for India against West Indies in the first test at Rajkot.
And the world cricket witnessed the same thing what Indians do in their home i.e. win the toss and bat first to put the huge total on the opposition and make the follow on.
In the match, India declared their first innings at 649/9. The 18 year old debutant Prithvi Shaw showed his class and hit his first ever International Test hundred.
His innings was praised by all and he might have received the ultimate congratulations from the ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar.
On the other hand, the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli also reached to his 24th Test Hundred and he’s now the 4th among the most centuries hit by the Indian batsmen. Apart from Prithvi, Ravinder Jadeja also made his first test century against the Caribbean. When three of these batsmen celebrated their centuries, there are two batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara (86) and young Rishabh Pant (92) were very short to their centuries.
Chasing 649, West Indies team collapsed at 181 in their first innings. Except Chase (53) and KMA Paul (47), none of the Caribbean stood strong against the Indian bowlers. Ashwin’s four and Shami’s two wickets broke the backbone. After then, India asked the opposition to follow on and it’s clicked for them.
This time, Brathwaite and company bundled out for 196 runs and India won the match by 227 runs. Kuldeep Yadav became hero among the bowlers taking five wickets for the first time.
