#CSK openers built a solid opening stand which won them the game against #SRH.

The best bowling line-up in the IPL 2018 season took a pasting, SRH – Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers weren’t that effective against CSK – Chennai Super Kings yesterday in Pune.

SRH bowlers didn’t found that swing on the MCA wicket which has helped them to do well in this tournament.

Bowlers like Bhuvi, Siddharth Kaul, Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan were found clueless in front of the CSK batsmen.

They couldn’t provide that breakthrough which was needed by them.

They had set a good, decent total of 180 runs but for the first time, they failed to defend it.

The SRH batsmen batted well and put a challenging score on the board.

It was again Shikhar Dhawan and Skipper Kane Williamson who gave SRH a good total to defend.

Alex Hales didn’t do well as an opener; he fell for just 2 runs. He was out to Deepak Chachar.

Hales never looked comfortable at the crease; he just chipped the swinging length ball to Suresh Raina at the cover point region. Chachar had ended the struggle of Alex Hales. He was out for 9 balls 2 runs.

Then came the Modern day great, Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan continued from where they left against the Double D’s.

Just like the last match, Williamson started off slowly and then banged the CSK bowlers.

As Dhawan was in solid form right from ball one, Gabbar played well against DD also and against CSK too he didn’t shy off.

The CSK bowlers were left searching ways to break this headache type of a partnership which was built by Dhawan and Skipper Williamson.

These two SRH batters added 123 runs, this was their 3rd century stand in this season and second hundred stand on the trot.

In this process, Dhawan also completed his second consecutive half-century. He was going on well and so as Kane Williamson, who reached his fifty after some overs.

But DJ Bravo didn’t allow Dhawan to come close to the 3 figure mark. Dhawan looked for a hundred here.

It was a slower ball which deceived Dhawan, he played the shot early and he couldn’t generate the power which could have gone past Bhajji who stood there at short fine leg region. Dhawan was out after scoring 79 runs.

The mammoth partnership was broken by DJ Bravo  and SRH got another blow when Skipper Williamson was out in the next over.

Williamson sliced the wide ball towards the deep point region. DJ Bravo took a smart catch which saw the end of the SRH skipper. Williamson was out after scoring 51 runs.

CSK fought back well, they picked up 2 set batsmen of the SRH team, but in the last 4 overs, SRH had two new inconsistent batsmen at the crease.

Deepak Hooda had played well for them but Manish Pandey had been highly inconsistent.

And Pandey continued being so, he was dismissed after 2 overs. He was out by Shardul Thakur.

Pandey couldn’t guide the innings well, he went hard at the cross-seamed ball which went straight to David Willey at the long region. Pandey disappoints yet again, he was out for just 5 runs.

The SRH innings lost the momentum, the score that once looked near 200 run mark was not even near the 180 runs.

Deepak Hooda batted well and with the support of Shakib Al Hasan as SRH reached 179 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Deepak Hooda was unbeaten on 21 runs and Shakib was not out on 8 runs.

The Super Kings made a good comeback, the partnership between Dhawan and Williamson took the game away from them but their bowlers did a decent a job.

Shardul Thakur picked up 2 wickets to his name with DJ Bravo and Deepak Chachar picked up 1 wicket each.

The chase of 180 runs was a great one from Chennai Super Kings, their openers were on song.

Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu built a solid opening stand which gave CSK the momentum to be in the chase.

Watson and Rayudu added 134 runs for the first wicket and SRH bowlers paid the price for not breaking this huge partnership.

Watson and Raydu missed out in the game against RR, but they made up for it by playing super knocks for CSK in this innings.

SRH finally got the breakthrough in the 13th over when Shane Watson couldn’t complete a cheeky single; Watson was run out for a well made 51 runs.

His powerful innings set the tone for a Super King victory, his 51 run knocks also allowed Rayudu to get set at the other end.

But Suresh Raina played a horrible shot and got out in the next over. Raina hurried to finish off the game quickly but he couldn’t middle the ball and he was caught by Williamson for just 2 runs.

MS Dhoni came and finished off the game, he was dropped once but he used this opportunity and took his side to a comfortable win over SRH.

One can’t forget the innings played by Ambati Rayudu, who has been sensational in this IPL season.

Due to his good performance in this IPL, he has been selected in one-day squad for the England Tour and Rayudu celebrated that with a great IPL hundred.

His 100 not out and MSD finishing cameo of 20 runs gave Super kings a superb victory.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 8 wickets and with 1 over to spare.

The SRH bowlers weren’t that effective, there were blown away by Rayudu, Watson, and Dhoni.

Only Sandeep Sharma was the wicket-taker for Hyderabad in this match and the rest struggled.

Ambati Rayudu was the man of the match for his unbeaten 100 runs.
