The ICC Champions Trophy is a tournament where 50 over cricket is been played by the top 8 teams in the ICC One Day International rankings

This is the 8th edition of the tournament and the second time it’s going to be held in England and Wales. This tournament will be played from 1 June 2017 to 18th June 2017.

Top 8 teams like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand will participate in the 50 over contest.

These 8 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each.

Bangladesh will be replacing the West Indies team for this edition and they will return to the ICC Champions Trophy for the first time after 2006.

The West Indies won’t participate in this edition because they finished on the ninth position of the ICC One Day International Rankings.

The group A teams in this Champions Trophy are Australia, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh.

The remaining 4 teams like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa will feature in Group B.

The International Cricket Council has announced that the ICC Champions Trophy will be held across 3 venues Kennington Oval in London, Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham and The Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Before the actual tournament starts all the 8 teams will play 2 warm up games each.

But these warm up matches won’t be played as normal ODI matches so they will not be recognised as One Day Internationals.
