Tri Series – Nidahas Trophy 3rd Match India Vs Sri Lanka – Preview

Nidahas Trophy 3rd Match India Vs Sri Lanka

With #India, #Sri #Lanka and #Bangladesh winning 1 match each, it would be very interesting to who leads the points table in the 3rd game of the #Nidahas #Trophy.

The Nidahas Trophy is in an exciting stage, after Bangladesh shocked Sri Lanka on Saturday the 3 teams will fight for that number 1 spot on the points table.

The third match of this Nidahas Trophy will be played on Monday 12th March 2018 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The Sri Lankans will look to come over from the shock given by Bangladesh, their top 3 batsmen are in good form but the worry is the middle order.

Skipper Dinesh Chandimal, Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera are not in their best form.

Sri Lanka’s top 3 batsmen, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and Danushka Gunathalika played well against Bangladesh but the middle order ruined the start given by these top order batsmen.

Sri Lanka was on the right track to post the total above 250 runs but the failure from the middle order batsmen did allow them to do that.

Sri Lanka will want these three to batsmen to step up against India today.

Another concern for the hosts is their bowling which didn’t go well in the game against Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka should include Suranga Lakmal in their playing XI; he is the one who can use the new ball well for the hosts.

Nuwan Pradeep, Chameera and Thisara Perera were in affective in their last match that’s what allowed Bangladesh to chase the 4th highest total in T20 International cricket.

Akila Dananjaya’s silence with the ball is also a worry for Sri Lanka. The Lankans need two spinners in their playing XI. A Lone Akila Dananjaya may not be so effective as he would be with his spin partner.

Thisara Perera’s all round skills aren’t helping the Sri Lankans. Either he should perform or Sri Lanka can add another spinner instead of him.

The likes of Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis should continue their good form in the next game against India.

Danuska Gunathalia played decently against Bangladesh, he would be hoping to do a lot more against India today.

India on the other hand will know what Sri Lanka did to them in the 1st match of the Nidahas Trophy.

So Rohit and his young men can’t take the Lankans Tigers lightly.

India will rely on Shikhar Dhawan for another match holding innings, Dhawan is the one who is holding the Indian innings together for a while now.

With Rohit Sharma is struggling for form, it would be important that Dhawan bats well for India today.

Dhawan has scored two consecutive fifties in this Tri Series of the Nidahas Trophy. He will be hoping to get a big one on Monday.

But form of skipper Rohit Sharma has hurt India a lot. He needs to get back to his hitting zone.

Promoting Rishab Pant at number 3 wasn’t a good idea, Suresh Raina should be India’s number 3 batsmen in the absence of Virat Kohli.

Raina has done well recently at that batting position. He and Dhawan have many times rebuild the Indian innings after Rohit Sharma’s early fall.

Pant should bat at number 4, this youngster is quality material. India needs to use him wisely, looking at the future.

Rishab Pant may be the ideal number 4 batsmen for India in ODI cricket, he should be India’s permanent member.

Manish Pandey and Dinesh Kartik haven’t got many chances but they need to keep themselves ready.

India bowled well against Bangladesh, they need to continue that. But their fielding again came under the scanner in the last match, India drops 5 catches in that match. Thankfully that didn’t hurt them.

India’s fielding needs to improve now, with the so much of cricket being played and being part of the IPL, the Indian team shouldn’t drop catches.

Vijay Shankar bowled well but was expensive, he had economical figures but he bowled too many no balls that could have cost India another match, he should be careful with that from next match.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar bowled decently so far in this Nidahas Trophy. They should continue to doing so.

India has option of Axar Patel as well, he can tried in the few matches.

Shardul Thakur should be aware of Kusal Perera. Thakur can’t forget that 27 runs were taken from his 1 over. He should be able to bowl well in today’s match.

India is still the favourites after their good win over Bangladesh, Rohit and Co will be hoping to continue the winning momentum.

Likely Playing XI of India –

Team India may go with the same squad that faced Sri Lankans and Bangladesh.

Rohit Sharma (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Rishab Pant, Deepak Hooda/Dinesh Karthik, Vijay Shankar, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohd Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat.
