In the 5th ODI, the visitors won the toss and chose to bowl first.
India made just 1 change in their playing XI and South Africa made 4 changes and still they were on the losing side.
India gave Bhuvneshwar Kumar a well deserved rest. In his place Shardul Thakur came in.

Batting first South Africa’s woes continued, this time the paces trouble the Proteas batsmen.
Shardul Thakur made his comeback in a beautiful way, he was the one who gave South Africa the first blow.
Hashim Amla’s consistency was again in question, after playing decently in Port Elizabeth, Amla scored just 10 runs in this ODI. He was caught behind by MS Dhoni.
Skipper Markram and AB De VIllers carried on for some time, but Markram couldn’t go the long way. Shreyas Iyer catches Markram off Shardul Thakur. Markram could score only 24 runs.
Zondo was the one who looked comfortable in the 2nd ODI. Yesterday too he was on the mark. First he shared a much needed partnership with De Villers and then he tried to hold the one end.
Zondo and ABD shared 65 runs partnership, which was about to stabilize the innings.
But Yuzvendra Chahal gave South Africa a big blow, Chahal clean bowled AB De Villers for 30 runs.

South Africa was on a verge of another low score but Andile Phehlukwayo’s gusty 34 runs allowed them to get through the 200 run mark.
The lower order continued to struggle in front of the Indian bowlers.
Morne Mokel scored vital 20 runs that helped the score to move a bit. Hardik Pandya dismissed Morkel.
Imran Tahir was picked up by Bumrah and Andile Phehlukwayo was the last man to be dismissed. He was out to Shardul Thakur for 34 runs.

Sharma was caught behind by Klaasen off Ngidi.
Shikhar Dhawan hung around with Skipper Kohli, their 61 runs partnership ensure that India were in a touching distance of the victory.
But South Africa gave blow to India when Lungi Ngidi dismissed Shikhar Dhawan for 18 runs.
It was a master class by King Kohli again who guided India in another run chase.
His 35th ODI ton took India to a comfortable win. King Kohli again broke many records during his marathon innings.
Ajinkya Rahane also came good this time, just like the 1st ODI these two took India to a comfortable win.
