Last year we were witnessed of #MeToo movement, which made a huge wave in Indian film industry, as many of female actresses called out several sexual predators in the industry. Among them Alok Nath was one, who was accused of rape by television producer-writer Vinta Nanda in last year October.
Later, the actor was expelled by Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) till further notice and was not allowed to do any television programmes or films post that.
Actor Alok Nath has reportedly shot a movie recently. Interestingly, the film is titled #Main Bhi (#MeToo) and he will be seen essaying a role of judge who takes a strong stands against sexual harassment in the film.
‘#Main Bhi’ is helmed by Nasir Khan and it has been shot in Bhopal. ‘Big Boss 8’ contestant Sonali Raut will be seen as female lead.
Talking about the film, the 62-year-old actor said, “I am not doing any films at the moment. This was something I shot for a while ago.”
Further while talking to one of the reporter of a leading newspaper, Alok question back that “Is there any problem? You sound sad that I am doing a film. It’s a puny role for poor producers, let it release.”
Except Alok Nath and Sonali Raut , ‘#Main Bhi’ features Khalid Siddiqui, Shawar Ali, Imran Khan, Mukesh Khanna and Shahbaaz Khan in pivotal roles. Notably, Mukesh Khanna and Shahbaaz Khan will play lawyers in the movie.
Khalid Siddiqui, who plays one of the key role in Nasir’s directorial venture, has revealed that the film deals with child molestation, a subject that has not been tapped on screen often. Alok Nath is playing a judge who gives a speech about how molestation is wrong, at the end of the film.” Reportedly the film is all set to hit the screens this year.
In October, 2018, a rape case was lodged against Alok Nath by the Mumbai Police on a complaint filed by Vinta Nanda who accused the veteran actor of raping her twice nearly two decades ago when they were working together on the TV show named ‘Tara’. After Vinta’s complain other actresses like Sandhya Mridul, Himani Shivpuri and Deepika Amin also came out with similar allegations against Alok Nath by sharing their ordeals. He denied the allegations and later he was granted anticipatory bail.
