Nation fondly remembers the Missile Man: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam

On his fourth death anniversary, the nation fondly remembers its 11th President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. He was an aerospace scientist who served as India’s President from 2002 to 2007 and was famous as ‘People’s President. He made remarkable contribution to the country in the field of aeronautics, which earned him the title of ‘Missile Man of India’. He was intimately involved with DRDO and ISRO, which saw his creditable achievement as India’s space programme.

He played a crucial role in the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998.

Even after four years after his demise, Dr Kalam to continues to inspire people of all ages with equal zeal.

He died of cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong at the age of 83 on this day.
