LPG, Petrol & Diesel Supply Fully Secure, Beware of Rumours

Amid rising geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has reassured citizens that the supply of domestic LPG, PNG, and CNG remains completely normal. The ministry has clearly urged people to avoid panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG, and to rely only on official sources for information.

Online LPG booking has surged to nearly 98 percent across the industry, and most distribution centres remained open even on Sunday to ensure uninterrupted supply. Since March 2026, more than 1.28 lakh raids have been conducted across the country and over 59,000 cylinders have been seized, proving that the government is taking strong action against hoarding and black marketing. Hospitals, educational institutions, and essential industries like pharma and steel have been given priority in commercial LPG supply.

The supply of 5 kg FTL cylinders for migrant workers has been doubled. Along with increasing refinery production, the booking interval has been extended from 21 to 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas. Alternative fuels like kerosene and coal are also being made available to ease pressure on LPG demand. The Coal Ministry has directed Coal India and Singareni Collieries to supply additional coal to states for distribution to small and medium consumers. Citizens have also been encouraged to conserve energy and use digital booking platforms.
