RCB Crush MI by 18 Runs! Kohli-Salt Blaze the Trail, Rutherford’s Storm Falls Just Short

Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their third win of IPL 2026 by defeating Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in the tournament’s 20th match. Batting first, RCB posted a massive 240 runs on the board, built on a blazing 120-run opening partnership between Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Kohli contributed a brisk 50 off 38 balls while Salt smashed 78 off just 36 deliveries.

Captain Rajat Patidar further accelerated the innings with a stunning 53 off 20 balls. Chasing 241, Mumbai made a decent start but suffered a major blow when Rohit Sharma retired hurt on 19 due to a hamstring injury and did not return to bat. Hardik Pandya played a fiery knock of 40 off 22 balls but fell to Jacob Duffy. Sherfane Rutherford put up a breathtaking unbeaten 71 off just 31 balls, including 9 sixes, but could not take his team over the line. Mumbai eventually ended at 222 for 5, falling 18 runs short. Suyash Sharma was the pick of RCB’s bowlers with 2 wickets, while Mumbai suffered their third defeat of the season.
