The 26 February surgical strike by the Indian Air Force on the Jaish-e-Muhammed (JEM) terror camps in Pakistan’s Balakot area are now all set to be filmed.
Producer-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, T-Series owner Bhusan Kumar, producer Mahaveer Jain and filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor have came together to recreate the Balakot surgical strike on the big screen.
The latest reports suggest the project is already at its pre-production stage. Makers have started researching on the issue and the film is expected to go on floor by the middle of the year. ‘Kedarnath’ director Abhishek Kapoor will helm the venture.
A source close to the development said that the project is an effort to ‘salute and pay tribute’ to the Indian Air Force.
The film will so how the entire nation came together during crisis to support the armed forces. The source also revealed that a substantial share of profits will go the armed forces welfare fund.
“This project is our small way of saluting our armed forces and their families,” said the source. Now if the reports are to be believed, the casting for the film is currently underway and several A-list Bollywood actors have shown their interest in the film.
Further the source also added, “It will be our tribute to the nation. After the gutless terror attack in Pulwama, the IAF surgical strike at Balakot was a well planned, 100 percent successful operation which hit the enemy targets with precision. It is an honor to bring this story on the big screen so that we, as Indians, can reveal in our national pride.”
Several film and TV serial makers have reportedly approached the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) to reserve title such as ‘Balakot’, ‘Pulwama: The Deadly Terror Attack’, ‘Surgical Strike 2.0’, ‘War Room’, ‘Hindustan Hamara Hain’ and ‘How’s The Josh?’.
Earlier this year, Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ has emerged as a massive hit in the Indian Box Office and we hope the reason is clear why a film on Indian Air Force’s strike has been on board in less than a week of the actual event. We are eagerly waiting for the official announcement.
