Vande Bharat Express continues to break records and redefine rail travel in India. In the financial year 2025-26, approximately 3.98 crore passengers travelled on this semi-high-speed train, marking a robust 34 percent jump compared to 2.97 crore passengers in the previous year. Since its launch, the train has served over 9.1 crore passengers across nearly one lakh trips.
Among the busiest routes, the New Delhi-Varanasi corridor leads with over 73 lakh passengers. The New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra route has served around 56 lakh travellers, the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam route over 48 lakh, and the Chennai-Mysuru route more than 36 lakh. These routes have played a key role in boosting tourism and regional connectivity.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper service, launched in January 2026, recorded over 1.21 lakh passengers across 119 trips in just its first three months, with occupancy crossing 100 percent — a clear indicator of growing demand for premium overnight travel.
Launched in February 2019 on the New Delhi-Varanasi route, Vande Bharat Express has become a symbol of the Make in India initiative. Built with indigenous technology, it combines superior speed, enhanced safety, and modern amenities, reflecting Indian Railways’ commitment to innovation and passenger-centric travel.
