The National Assembly will meet today to elect a new Prime Minister in Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif, president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz faction, has filed his nomination for the post of Prime Minister. Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has filed the form on behalf of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Party.
Imran Khan was removed from the post of Prime Minister after he lost a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly of Pakistan. Subsequently, Shahbaz Sharif and Shah Mehmood Qureshi filed nominations for the election of the new prime minister. Imran Khan is the first Prime Minister of Pakistan who was removed through a no-confidence motion. Meanwhile, all the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party have decided to resign from the National Assembly.
