The first Indian-origin Senator, Kamala Harris has surged to the second position in the 2020 presidential run. It is a position more than 20 Democratic candidates are eyeing the White House for the presidential post, according to a latest national opinion poll.
Though former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is still leading the Democratic presidential aspirants with 22% of the vote, but his popularity rating has come down drastically following his poor performance after the last week’s first Democratic presidential debate.
During the last week’s Democratic presidential debate, Ms. Harris, 54, who outperformed Mr. Biden, 76, pushing her to the second spot with 22% of the votes, according to the Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University National opinion poll released on Tuesday.
While the rest follow with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren follows at 14%, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is at 13%, and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg gets 4%, according to the opinion poll.

But among women, Ms. Harris has a slight edge with 24% to Mr. Biden’s 22%. The race is similarly close for white Democratic voters, with Mr. Biden at 21%, and both Ms. Harris and Ms. Warren at 20%.
