Two influential US lawmakers have introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives urging US President Joe Biden to call the atrocities committed by Pakistani armed forces against ethnic Bengalis and Hindus in 1971 as genocide.
Republican lawmaker Chabot tweeted: “We must not forget the millions who died in the massacre, even years later. Admitting to genocide strengthens the historical record, makes our fellow Americans aware and at the same time lets future conspirators know that such crimes will not be spared or forgotten.
US lawmakers said that there was a genocide in Bangladesh in 1971 and during that time millions of people were killed. He said that out of those lakhs of dead, 80 percent were followers of Hinduism. At the same time, the government of Bangladesh and many organizations there have welcomed this American proposal.
