The name of the next prime minister of Britain will be announced today

The name of Britain’s next prime minister and leader of the Conservative Party will be announced today. For this, Foreign Minister Liz Truss and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak are in competition. The election results will be declared later this afternoon. According to the surveys so far, Liz Truss has the upper hand and she can defeat Rishi Sunak to become the next Prime Minister of Britain. The election for the post of leader of the Conservative Party was concluded on Friday.

The countdown has begun for more than six weeks of the campaign to choose between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss as the new leader of the Conservative Party to replace Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

If elected, 42-year-old Sunak will make history as the first prime minister of Indian origin whose Indian grandmother immigrated to Britain from East Africa 60 years ago. Son of a doctor father and pharmacist mother, Sunak married Akshata Murthy, daughter of Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys. Sunak started his journey in early July by claiming for the leadership position.
