James said the fighting began when the PDF attacked two military bases in Khawmawi and Rikhawdar in Chin state near the Indian border. The fighting continued till Monday and more than 2,000 people from Khawmavi, Rikhawdar and neighboring villages of Chin crossed into India due to the firing, the official said. James said the militia captured the Myanmar military base in Rikhawdar early Monday and the Khawmawi base in the afternoon.
The Myanmar army retaliated, which continued throughout the night, forcing residents to flee into India by crossing the Tiau River that forms the border between the two countries. According to the information, it has been learned that the rebel organizations have captured the military posts, due to which the army soldiers were forced to flee from there.
On Monday morning, the Myanmar Army bombed border areas, forcing residents of both villages, about 5,000 of them, to cross into India through Jokhawthar in search of safety and shelter.
