A 35-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering a five-year-old Indian-origin girl in 2021 in the US state of Louisiana. Maya Patel was shot in the head on March 20, 2021 while playing in her hotel room in Shreveport. He was rushed to the hospital but died after three days of treatment.
Vimal and Snehal Patel, the owners and operators of the hotel, were living on the ground floor with Maya and her younger brother. Smith fired at the man. But the bullet did not hit that person and hit Maya’s head.
The next hearing in the court will be on February 27. The report said Smith could face up to 40 years of hard labor for the murder.
