US President Donald Trump said that his country is ready to build up nuclear arsenal while asserting that it is abandoning the cold war era nuclear treaty.
Meanwhile, Russia reacting to the development opined that the country was apprehensive about the decision and has also warned that the stated withdrawal could cripple global security.
Donald Trump because of his decision has sparked a global concern by saying that he wanted to jettison the three-decade old Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) signed by former President Ronald Reagan and Michael Gorvachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union.
To explain his decision, the US President Trump informed reporters at a brief in Washington that Russia had not adhered to the spirit of the said agreement or to the agreement itself. He added, “Until individuals come back to their senses, we are going to build it up.” Referring to America’s nuclear stockpile. This should have been done years ago.
President Trump further asserted that it is the threat to whoever you want. And it includes China and Russia. The US president said, “It includes anybody else who wants to play that game. You can not do that. You can not play that game.”
The US president further observed, “Until they get smart, there is going to be nobody that is going to be even close to us.”
