Barely a few days before, the Governor of J&K Satya Pal Malik made a statement that the situation is normal and under control, an additional 25,000 deployment of army in Jammu and Kashmir has given way to a fresh wave of speculation in the State as in less than a week after the Centre rushed 10,000 troops.

The significant move has taken places days ahead of the Assembly elections there. To avoid any immediate fallout among the Muslim clusters, a high alert has been sounded. According to sources, the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage has been put to stop and the community kitchen called as ‘langars’ operating in South Kashmir were also made dysfunctional for the time being. Army troops comprising of over 40 companies have been deployed. Sources said the meeting of the regional parties was necessitated by the sudden force build-up.
