Barely four days after the Union Home Minister imposed ban on people meeting and entire Kashmir reeling under lockdown, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had visited Kashmir to review the situation by interacting with the locals on the streets.
In a video shared on the national television, the National Security Advisor can be seen having traditional meals with the residents in Shopian. In the backdrop of deserted streets where a handful of people could be seen, Doval took feedback from the residents on the government’s recent scrapping of the Article 370 and the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.
The locals of Shopian sounded very positive with the developments that took place recently and the locals are hopeful that soon situation will get back to normalcy.People in the valley welcomed the move by the government and are eagerly waiting for good education and growth in the economy to happen. The people were hopeful that the situation would get much better by the Eid festival on the 12 August.
“Yes, everything will be fine. Everyone should live peacefully. Whatever the almighty does is good. Your security and well-being is our only concern. We are thinking about the growth and welfare of your generations,” said the top security official to the people.
He also met with security personnel in Shopian. “The nation knows it can rely on the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)… From left wing extremism to terrorism in Kashmir, CRPF has proved itself,” he said in a pep-talk to the soldiers.
Before the announcement of scrapping of the Article 370, over 300 leaders including Former chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah,were placed under house arrest to avoid any kind of mishap.
Earlier, more than 35,000 troops were deployed in J&K for the safety of the people.
As part of a complete communications blackout, phone services and internet connections remain suspended. Top officials are using satellite phones to communicate.
Mr Doval, who flew to Kashmir on Monday, has been delivering situation reports from the ground to Delhi.
