The much anticipated women’ Indian Premier League (IPL) have been approved the Governing Council after it met on August 2. This development comes on a day when the IPL Governing Council zeroed on all logistics for IPL 2020 which will be held in UAE from September 19 to November 10.

The Indian government has given its approval for IPL 2020 to be played in The UAE. All Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being readied and finalised.

Earlier today, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had almost confirmed the developments while talking to India Today.

“Women’s IPL will definitely happen and women’s cricket is as much a priority for the BCCI. We will add a team and make it with 4 teams,” Ganguly told India Today ahead of the IPL Governing Council meeting on Sunday.

“It will be played between 1-10 November. The idea is to have a full fledged tournament down the line once things improve. We will also do a camp for the women players and ensure they are properly prepared for the tournament,” Ganguly confirmed.

The former India captain also said that the centrally contracted women players will have a camp which has been delayed due to the prevailing situation in the country.

“We couldn’t have exposed any of our cricketers — be it male or female to health risk. It would have been dangerous,” Ganguly said.
