The wanted militant who had involved in the terror attacks in India was tried by Pak and sentenced. He was the mastermind for the terror attacks in Mumbai terror attack. Zaki Ur Rehman Lakhvi was sentenced to five years in jail by the Pak court. The sentence took place as a result of Zaki-ur-Rehman financing terrorism.

With a huge networking done to apprehend Lakhvi for the attacks, Lakhva was finally tried at the anti-terrorism court in Pak. Lakhvi and the party are suspected by India and the United States of having been behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He was sentenced to five years at the same time on three counts, with a fine of 100,000 rupees on each count, according to a court order released by Reuters. The Pak Judge gave him a punishment of rigorous imprisonment for five years for his criminal act.

Sixty-one year old Lakhvi had been responsible foe series of attacks that took place on one single day killing innocent lives.

For quite some time, India had called upon Pak to prosecute Lakhvi for Mumbai attack, in which more than one hundred and sixty people lost their lives. But Pak told that Delhi has not offered clear proof that it may use it in court to try the leader of the LeT, who was initially arrested in 2008 but later released on bail.

On charges of financing militants, Lakhvi was apprehended once again. The US supported his arrest but also called on him to be prosecuted for the Mumbai attacks.

“We will closely follow his prosecution & sentencing & urge him to be held accountable for his involvement in the Mumbai attacks,” the United States State Department tweeted.

According to Delhi, the only surviving gunman of the attack, who was executed in 2012 after sentencing by an Indian court, told the interrogators that the attackers were in communication with Pakistan-born Lakhvi, who is said to be LeT’s chief of operations. If Pak had failed in its duty to prosecute Lakhvi for terror funding, the the global organisation global terror financing watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will remove Pakistan. And FATF has been watching Pakistan closely on this count now. Otherwise, Pak fears it will be declared a terrorist country.

According to the UN Security Council Sanctions Commission, Lakhvi is active in terrorist operations in a number of other regions and nations, including Chechnya, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
