With oxygen shortages worsening the Covid crisis across states, India will airlift 23 oxygen generation plants and containers from Germany. These plants and containers are likely to reach India in a couple of days.
They will be transported to Covid facilities run by the Defence Ministry and other military hospitals to provide sufficient oxygen to patients.
“From Germany, 23 mobile oxygen generation plants are being airlifted. To address the shortage, the Armed Forces Medical Service (AFMS) has decided to import oxygen generation plants and containers from Germany “According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.
“They will be stationed in AFMS hospitals that serve Covid patients. Each plant has the ability to produce 40 litres of oxygen per minute. At this rate, it can serve 20-25 patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They have the advantage of being easily portable “It stated.
The Indian Army has decided to add 400 beds to its Covid-19 facility at Base Hospital in Delhi Cantt to meet the growing demand for hospital beds during the second wave of Covid-19.
So far, 258 oxygenated beds have been occupied. An official stated that the number of these oxygenated beds has been increased in recent days. In Patna, a Covid hospital with 500 beds is functional.
And work is on to set up a 450-bed hospital in Lucknow, 750-bed hospital in Varanasi and 900-bed hospital in Ahmedabad.
