Today one hundred and three years have been completed since the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in Punjab on April 13, 1919. This is considered to be the darkest day ever in the history of India.
On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, thousands of people gathered at Jallianwala Bagh to celebrate Baisakhi and peacefully demonstrate the arrest of its two leaders Satyapal and Saifuddin Kitchlew.
General R. Edward Harry Dyer with his men reached Jallianwala Bagh and closed the entrance. He ordered firing on unarmed civilians without warning. General Dyer later said that this was not a punishment for disobeying the people, but for disobedience. According to official British government figures, more than 350 people were killed, while thousands were seriously injured. But according to the Congress, more than a thousand people lost their lives in this incident.
