Ranil Wickremesinghe declares Sri Lanka bankrupt

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has declared the country bankrupt as it faces a fuel crisis and food shortage.

Wickremesinghe told the media that the previous government is responsible for bringing the country to this condition. He said that the country has neither dollar nor rupee and there is no atmosphere of stability in the country. Fuel prices are increasing in the country.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s central bank governor said yesterday that foreign exchange has been secured to pay for fuel and cooking gas. However, most of the petrol pumps in Sri Lanka have dried up.

Let us tell you that, any country is declared bankrupt when the government there is unable to repay the loan or installments taken from other countries or international organizations on time. In such a situation, the prestige, currency and economy of the country suffers a lot.
