A Delhi court has sentenced Yasin Malik to life imprisonment in a case of providing funds for terrorist activities. Earlier, Yasin had pleaded guilty to all charges. The charges also included charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The NIA had sought capital punishment for Yasin Malik from the Delhi court. During the hearing of the case, the probe agency told Special Judge Praveen Singh that Malik was responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.
Yasin Malik has been the chief of the Separatist Organization (JKLF). The central government had banned JKLF in 2019. He has been facing serious allegations from instigating youth in Kashmir to meeting Hafiz Saeed. These include allegations of playing a role in the abduction of the daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 1989. Yasin was also accused of killing four Indian Air Force officers in 1990.
