Preparations are on to start 5G services in the country by October this year. Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in New Delhi last evening that the aim is to create telecommunication infrastructure for rapid 5G implementation.
The Communications Minister said that there are four basic components for smooth 5G services – spectrum allocation, reforming rights rules, permissions, cooperative federalism and ensuring access to services. He said that the work of spectrum allocation and coordination has been successfully completed.
The Minister of Communications said that Gatishakti Sanchar Portal was launched in May this year in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of infrastructure development in an integrated manner. Vaishnav said that information technology systems of all states and union territories and major central ministries like railways and highways have been linked to this portal, so that complete preparations can be made to implement five-G services.
