Tensions between China and the US have escalated after US Parliament Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei in Taiwan last month. America’s policy regarding Taiwan has always been one of ‘strategic ambiguity’.
The US is not committed to defending Taiwan, but does not rule out the option either. America has been taking diplomatic strictness on this issue for a long time.
