Sri Lanka has identified sites related to Ramayana which will give a boost to tourism in India. Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Officer Jeevan Fernando told agencies that 50 sites related to Ramayana have been identified to promote tourism from India to the island. ,

These will be used to woo Indian tourists. For this, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Tourism will run a large-scale advertising campaign in India. The government is identifying places associated not only with Hinduism but also with Buddhism to attract tourists from other South-East Asian countries including Japan.

He said the island nation is diverse and its many places can attract pilgrims from India and other Buddhist countries. Fernando said that during the last few years, Sri Lanka did many promotions in India for Ramayana tourism. Most Indians go to Sri Lanka for a holiday and visit at least one Ramayana site.
