The Maharashtra government has made a big announcement on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. CM Eknath Shinde has said that the Bandra-Versova Sea Link Bridge will be named after Veer Savarkar. Apart from this, he also announced to give Veer Savarkar Bravery Award to those who have done remarkable work in different fields.
In fact, on Sunday the whole country was celebrating the 140th birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “The government is celebrating Veer Savarkar Jayanti as ‘Veer Savarkar Gaurav Diwas’. The government has decided to rename the Bandra-Versova Sea Link as ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar Bandra-Versova Samudra Setu’. It has also been decided to give Veer Savarkar Gallantry Awards to people who have done remarkable work in different fields.
Earlier speaking at a program organized in Delhi, CM Shinde said that some people are deliberately maligning the name of Veer Savarkar just for their selfishness. Such people are afraid that if Savarkar’s ideas become popular in the society, then their shop will be closed. Imagine how terrified these people are. Even after 57 years of Savarkar’s death, they continue to oppose him.
