Uttar Pradesh Police has been put on high alert as a result of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar has issued instructions to all police officers of the state to be extra vigilant and strengthen the security system.
Intensive surveillance has been established at all bus and railway stations in the state including the international border with Nepal. Police forces have been ordered to be ready to deal with any emergency situation.
Many tourists including two foreign nationals were killed in this attack in Pahalgam and many other tourists and local citizens were injured. This attack has been strongly condemned from all over the world and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also constantly monitoring the situation.
Indian security forces responded immediately and launched a joint search operation in the area. According to the official statement issued by the army, medical teams were immediately deployed and evacuation of casualties was initiated. The joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police is underway in the area of Baisaran, Pahalgam, Anantnag, with the primary objective being to bring the attackers to justice.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar and chaired a high-level review meeting attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Director General of Police and other senior officials. Mr Shah will meet the injured in the hospital and inspect the site of the incident on Wednesday.
According to official information, the deceased also include one citizen each from Nepal and United Arab Emirates.
