The Indian High Commission has sent a formal letter to the Bangladesh government proposing to provide necessary medical assistance in India for the people injured in the Milestone School accident. The High Commission has clarified that all necessary facilities and support for the treatment of the injured will be ensured by India.
Expressing condolences on the accident on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “I am deeply saddened by the news of death and injury of many people, especially students, in the plane crash in Dhaka. We stand with the bereaved families and wish speedy recovery to the injured. India stands with Bangladesh in this difficult time and is ready to provide all possible assistance.”
According to the latest information released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday, the death toll in the accident has risen to 27, including 25 students (many below 12 years of age), an aircraft pilot and a female teacher. About 78 people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals, of which the condition of five remains critical. The bodies of 20 deceased have been handed over to the families, while 6 bodies have not yet been identified, whose DNA samples have been collected.
It is noteworthy that on Monday, the Air Force’s F-7 BGI training aircraft collided with the building of Milestone School and College located in Uttara area of Dhaka, about 24 minutes after taking off at 13:06 local time.
