Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has confirmed her safe return to India after withdrawing from the All England Championships. Sindhu, who was recently stranded in Dubai with her Indonesian coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama, confirmed her arrival in Bengaluru via social media on Tuesday.
Sindhu wrote on her X that the past few days have been extremely difficult and uncertain, but she is grateful to be back home. She thanked the Dubai authorities, airport staff, immigration officials, and ground team for their support during the crisis. Sindhu said she will now rest and focus on her future strategy.
Due to the ongoing tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran, the situation in Dubai was uneasy, which prevented Sindhu from participating in the All England Championships. She had previously reported that the situation became extremely tense after an explosion near the airport, and she was evacuated to a safe location.
Sindhu also appreciated the support of the Indian High Commission in Dubai, which played an active role in ensuring her safety.
Sindhu will now compete in the Swiss Open next week. It’s worth noting that she reached the semifinals of the All England Championships in 2021, but failed to win the title. Last year, her campaign ended in the first round.
After making a safe comeback amid the crisis, Sindhu’s focus is now completely on the upcoming tournaments and re-building her performance.
