Batting first, RCB posted a massive 240 runs on the board, built on a blazing 120-run opening partnership between Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Kohli contributed a brisk 50 off 38 balls while Salt smashed 78 off just 36 deliveries.
Captain Rajat Patidar further accelerated the innings with a stunning 53 off 20 balls. Chasing 241, Mumbai made a decent start but suffered a major blow when Rohit Sharma retired hurt on 19 due to a hamstring injury and did not return to bat. Hardik Pandya played a fiery knock of 40 off 22 balls but fell to Jacob Duffy. Sherfane Rutherford put up a breathtaking unbeaten 71 off just 31 balls, including 9 sixes, but could not take his team over the line. Mumbai eventually ended at 222 for 5, falling 18 runs short. Suyash Sharma was the pick of RCB’s bowlers with 2 wickets, while Mumbai suffered their third defeat of the season.
