In response to the intensifying conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘Red Alert’ for several districts across Delhi and the wider metropolitan area.
Strong winds and sustained precipitation resulted in uprooted trees and damaged electricity infrastructure, leading to localized power outages. Key traffic junctions and expressways experienced significant congestion, prompting traffic police to enforce route diversions and advise citizens against non-essential travel. Weather forecasters warned that intermittent heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to persist over the next 24 to 48 hours.
