Costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, India’s first Oscar winner, died at her home on Thursday after prolonged illness, her daughter said. She was 91. Athaiya, who won an Oscar for her work in the 1983 film Gandhi, passed away peacefully in her sleep, her daughter Radhika Gupta told PTI. The historic Shahpur fort popularly known as Qila Shahpur collapsed due to heavy rains playing havoc in Telangana. The historic Shahpur fort is in Telangana’s Jangaon district. Three houses were damaged under the debris of the fort. The leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have raised objection to construction of a mosque in the trans-Ganga area of Prayagraj. The mosque is being constructed in the Havelia village in Jhunsi area.
