Elections to 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and one in Uttarakhand, falling vacant next month, are going to be persisted November 9, the poll panel announced on Tuesday. Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav are among the ten members from Uttar Pradesh retiring on November 25. Police in South Kashmir have arrested three teachers of a religious school under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for allegedly “spreading hatred while teaching”, police said. After the investigating agencies found out about the clandestine nature of the school’s operation, the three teachers were arrested. The three were booked under the PSA which allows authorities to detain a person for up to two years without a trial “after it came to the fore that some of the school’s students and alumni were involved in militant activities”. Two American economists won the Nobel Prize on Monday for improving the theory of how auctions work and inventing new and better auction formats that are now woven into many parts of the economy.
