The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday dismissed former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini’s two pleas including an anticipatory bail plea in the 1991 Balwant Singh Multani disappearance case. Three “overground workers” of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district and incriminating materials found in their possession, police said on Tuesday. Five people died here on Tuesday after being exposed to toxic gas in a well where locals used to dump garbage, police said. The incident took place at Raja Mohalla in the Kotwali police station area while they were rescuing a calf that had fell into it. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday reviewed the progress of various works under the state government’s ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan’ and asked officials to complete renovation of all public wells by March next year.
