The Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), the apex body of saints and seers, has decided to launch a campaign to free the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura. A formal resolution to this effect was passed on Monday at a meeting of the Akhara Parishad in Prayagraj. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has suspended the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licenses of six NGOs without which these will not be able to receive any foreign fund. An FCRA license is a mandatory requirement for any non-profit organisation operating in India to receive foreign funds. It should be noted that the six NGOs whose FCRA license have now stand suspended include four Christian associations. The Madras High Court has prohibited the Thiruporur sub-registrar from issuing any encumbrance certificate to properties belonging to the Thiruporur Kandaswamy Temple and another trust spread over 2,000 acres on Chennai-Puducherry East Coast Road and Mahabalipuram.
