India has recorded more than 12 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases in August, higher than in any previous month and the highest count by any country during this month. The Supreme Court has rejected a PIL filed by an Ayurveda practitioner claiming that he has found a cure for Covid-19 and that this cure should be used by the government across the country. The Supreme Court Thursday granted two days to activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who has been held guilty of contempt, to reconsider his ‘defiant statement’ refusing to apologise for his contemptuous tweets against the judiciary. At least nine people are feared trapped after a massive fire broke out at Srisailam power station in Telangana. The fire was followed by an explosion in unit 4 of the power station.
