Coronavirus cases in India touched 17 lakh-mark as the country recorded over 54,700 cases cases in a span of 24 hours. Britain is considering minting a coin to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi, amid growing interest in recognizing the contributions of people from the Black, Asian and other minority ethnic communities. The high-level Group of Ministers (GOM) on COVID-19 has agreed to the health ministry’s proposal to allow the export of indigenously made ventilators. The decision was taken as India continues to maintain a progressively declining low rate of fatality among COVID-19 patients, that currently stands at 2.15 per cent, “which means fewer numbers of active cases are on ventilators”, the Union health ministry said in a statement.
