The Gujarat Police on Sunday registered a case against an unknown person for placing an online advertisement to “sell” the Statue of Unity. The advertisement was placed for Rs 30,000 crore on OLX. A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room as he was missing his wife stuck at her parents’ place due to the lockdown, police said. The incident took place in Radha Kund locality here on Wednesday, they said, adding the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Soni, 32. The Indian Newspaper Society on Wednesday condemned Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s suggestion of imposing a ban on media advertisements by the government and PSUs for two years, saying such a proposal tantamount to “financial censorship”.
