India is keeping a close watch on the spread of monkeypox infection cases. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said in Rajya Sabha today that eight cases have been detected in the country so far. Five of these patients have recently traveled abroad. He said that the Center has issued guidelines to the states to prevent the spread of monkeypox. Mandaviya expressed confidence that Indian scientists would soon develop a vaccine to prevent monkeypox infection.

ED has arrested Sanjay Raut. Prior to his arrest, the ED raided Raut’s residence for nearly nine hours, in which Rs 11.5 lakh in cash was seized, he said. After more than six hours of interrogation, he was arrested after midnight on Sunday. The Delhi government has decided to withdraw the new excise policy for the time being and has directed the sale of liquor through government-run shops. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia gave this information on Saturday. 468 private liquor shops operating in the city will be closed from August 1 after the period of their license and the new excise policy expires on July 31.
