Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddiyurappa on Monday honoured ace Kambala jockey Srinivas Gowda and rewarded him with a cheque of Rs 3 lakh. “We have rewarded Gowda with Rs 3 lakh. A section of students at the Assam University in Silchar have enforced a hunger strike and shutdown for around a week, protesting against the rustication of a research scholar, who they claim, exposed corruption in the institution. Almost 80 per cent of the 867 species of birds population in India has been on decline in the past five years, according to a report to which over 15,500 birdwatchers from across the country contributed.
