China has congratulated the interim Taliban government of Afghanistan. Taliban Mohammad Naeem said in a tweet that China’s ambassador to Kabul, Wang Yu, met with the caretaker Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaki on Tuesday. Chinese Ambassador Wang told Muttaki that China respected Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. China has defended the Taliban’s interim hardline government to restore order. China also supported the Taliban’s stand that its interim government would take legal action to bring back US-based Afghan deposits. Hundreds of people took to the streets yesterday to protest the violence and killings in Panjgur district of Balochistan province in Pakistan. A large number of people, including women and children, gathered in the protest at the main square of the city. The newspaper Dawn reported that people protested over the lack of arrest of the killers and raised slogans against the local administration and the police. The protesters said that several innocent civilians have been killed in Panjgur in a month but no one has been arrested.
